Kindred have multiple methods of measuring themselves against others — age is one such metric. The amount of time a specific kindred has survived their unlife is roughly translated into a series of titles, used most commonly by the dominant Kindred society, the Camarilla. In these contexts, they may imply a level of cultural knowledge absorbed, or scale of influence.

Fledgling

Newly embraced kindred. They are those who have not yet been released by their sire and are considered their property and students. Additionally, under the tradition of the Accounting, the actions of a fledgling reflect on their sire, meaning that sires tend to be very strict with fledglings they've publicly claimed.

Neonate

The most common vampire. These range from freshly released fledglings to decades old vampires on the cusp of passing a century.

Ancilla

Vampires who are at least a few decades to centuries old claim this title, depending on their accomplishments. They understand the Kindred world unlike the Neonates and Fledglings who are still learning, though they lack the raw power of the Elders.

Elder

Any kindred who is at least two-hundred years old is an Elder.

On top of this, two more abstract terms exist to age more distant or even mythological figures.

Methuselah

The strongest of all kindred are the Methuselahs, vampires millennia old and typically of the fourth and fifth generations.

Antediluvian

The mythical Antediluvians are a topic of rumor, fear, and worship. The Cainite creation myth claims that Caine was the first vampire, who sired the second generation, who sired the third. The third, numbering thirteen, slew the second and sired the thirteen clans. If they do exist, they are the strongest vampires bar none and the progenitors each clan can trace their origin to.
