New page

== Glossary of Terms ==

IC: In character, as in through the perspective of the character you are roleplaying as.

OOC: Out of Character, as in you, the person on the other end of the screen, and all communications outside of the roleplay space.

HRP(Heavy Roleplay): Our definition of HRP means that you not only must play a character, in character at all times, but that they must behave as a character that would exist in our setting.

Griefing: The intentional use of game systems, mechanics, or other in round contrivances to OOCly target another player or group of players, in order to cause a negative experience, without IC justifications.

Metagaming: Using unintended means or outside means to gain an advantage over others in a manner inconsistent with roleplay standards. This typically means acting on information your character would not normally have access to based on your OOC knowledge. Examples include using OOC knowledge of the setting or info revealed OOC-ly to act against another character, or using OOC communications like voice chat to coordinate with other players.

Typebaiting: Prompting a conversation with another player with the purpose of using the state of typing a message to harm them.

Banbaiting: Intentionally luring other players into borderline situations to get staff action taken on them. This may include reporting players if a situation doesn't go your way or goading players either ICly or OOCly into an altercation to try and have them banned.

Powergaming: As a pattern of play, seeking to maximize their characters ability to kill others, regardless of if it is a situation where such is appropriate. An example would be buying the best available weapons and armor early into the round, every round, without a purpose or to have them "just in case."

Exploiting: Using unintended mechanics or bugs to gain leverage over other players.

Flaming: Insulting others, often including profanity or other offensive language, with the goal of harassing or targeting another player.

Multikeying: Playing the same round at the same time under multiple ckeys

RDM: Random Death Match, or attacking any other players you see without regard for rules or the situation.
